Dutton Parish Council forms part of the the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester, and is situated in the County of Cheshire, approximately 2 miles east of Runcorn. The parish had a population of 424 at the last census of 2011 and centres on the village of Dutton which is situated on the River Weaver.
The Parish Council is a part of Local Government. Parish Councillors are democratically elected by residents every four years and serve as representatives of their community. The Parish Council has the right to raise taxes (known as the local precept and collected as part of the Council Tax) and make spending decisions using the precept within the Parish.
The Parish Clerk is a non-elected statutory office holder and employee of the Council, rather than an elected member. The Clerk is responsible for enacting the Council’s decisions but is not responsible for making those decisions.
