From Cheshire West and Chester:
Birmingham 2022 is staging the 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay – an epic journey across the Commonwealth, with The Queen’s Baton visiting all 72 nations and territories.
The Relay began on 7 October 2021, with Her Majesty The Queen placing her Message to the Commonwealth into the Baton. The Baton is now on its 294-day long journey to every corner of the Commonwealth.
The Baton is coming to Northwich on Sunday 17 July 2022.
The Baton will arrive at Anderton Boat Lift, where it will be taken down the boat lift and onto a boat before travelling along the River Weaver to Winnington Swing Bridge. The Boat Lift will be closed to the general public on 17 July until 13.00pm to ensure access to the site.
The baton will then be taken on a route along Winnington Lane, through the town centre and ending at Barons Quay Road where it completes this leg of its journey.
Residents are encouraged to take part in activities by animating the route and cheering the Baton Bearers as it passes through.
